Weaver's Coffee & Tea Opens in the Castro; Fish and Chips at Wing Wings

CASTRO— The Castro coffee takeover is almost complete with today's soft-opening of Weaver's Coffee & Tea (2301 Market). Starting today, stop in for a reasonably priced coffee ($1.80) from master roaster John Weaver's beans, plus pastries from Cafe Madeleine. LOWER HAIGHT— Tomorrow's drizzly weather is the perfect backdrop for some crispy fish and chips from Batter by the Bay's pop-up at Wing Wings. Virgil's Sea Room co-owner and Irish lass Gillian Fitzgerald will be serving up fried treats like battered black pudding, chicken hearts and pickles, and she'll fry any sweet you want for a $2 charitable donation.
