Remembering Judy Rodgers; Candy For the Castro

Plus: "Sinatra" delivers booze, and Dandelion does 12 nights of chocolate events.

CIVIC CENTER—Today marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of Judy Rodgers, the legendary Zuni Cafe chef who died of cancer at age 57. Her mentee Gayle Pirie (Foreign Cinema) has written a lovely remembrance of her last days: "The food healed us both in that moment when there was nothing to say but 'Wow, this is so scary'...Even in her frail state, Judy still delighted in feeding people." CASTRO—On a sweeter note, it looks like the Castro is shortly about to receive a candy store, called Giddy Candy (2299 Market). [Hoodline]

SAN FRANCISCO—In general news of the weird, liquor-delivery app Saucey has hired a Frank Sinatra impersonator to deliver their Jack Daniel's-based "Sinatra" cocktail kit. Order up the kit on December 12, and "Frank" will come sing you a little ditty when he delivers it. [EaterWire]

MISSIONDandelion Chocolate's 12 Nights of Chocolate has returned for the holiday season, featuring everything from Tartine desserts paired with drinks from Tosca Cafe's Isaac Shumway to a night of holiday treats from Bi-Rite. Especially notable is a special dessert and wine event with William Werner, Bill Corbett, Matt Tinder, and David Lynch. All proceeds benefit the SF Food Bank; more info and tickets here. [EaterWire]
