Eat Like a Chef at Stones Throw; Learning Wine Basics

RUSSIAN HILL—The appeal of Stones Throw's Eat Like a Chef, Drink Like a Somm series is all in the name, as a different chef-somm duo come by once a month to offer their night-off favorites in support of the SF Food Bank. Spruce's Mark Sullivan and Randy Nakagawa kick things off on Monday, to be followed on March 31 by Mark Liberman and Kristen Capella of AQ and TBD. Tickets are $105, and bringing a nonperishable item for the food bank is encouraged. [EaterWire]

THE MISSION—Not quite sure how to drink like a somm when you get home? 18 Reasons is here to help with their four-hour Wine Basics seminar tomorrow afternoon, which will educate drinkers in viticulture, storing, serving, and of course, tasting. Tickets are $125. [EaterWire]

BERNAL HEIGHTS—Brooklyn grilled-cheese sensation Grilled Cheese Social will be in town tonight for a pop-up with Wesburger, where the two will collaborate on the "Fatty Melt," a $10 burger with grilled-cheese buns. It goes down at Virgil's Sea Room from 6-10 pm; there are only 40 available, so get there early. [EaterWire]

TENDERLOIN—And finally, here is a not-super-sensitive sign from the admittedly put-upon staff of Machine Deli, citing "TL Winter Olympics" sports like "downhill shopping cart" and "the junkie slump." For what it's worth, "tech moguls" and "cold brewing" come in for equal criticism. [SFist]
