Rasa Caffe, the new cafe from Oakland native Rasa Sun Mott, is now open in the former Alchemy Cafe in Berkeley (3140 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way). Sweet spiced coffee (made with Bicycle beans) and his own chai recipe are the house specialties, along with a selection of artisanal pastries. Mott, whose parents were the high-profile Black Panther activists Ericka Huggins and James Mott, cooked at Brown Sugar Kitchen before raising funds for his own cafe on Kickstarter. [Berkeleyside Nosh]
