Eneko Atxa to Visit Manresa; Applauze Books Dinners

LOS GATOSDavid Kinch is bringing Basque chef Eneko Atxa to the Bay Area in mid-May, when he'll cook at Manresa for two nights. Kinch wants to bring more attention to the three-Michelin-starred chef of Azurmendi, and is even growing some special produce just for his visit. [Inside Scoop]

SAN FRANCISCO—Ticketing app Applauze is moving into the restaurant space, offering special tasting-menu dinners at hotspots like Rich Table, Roka Akor, and The Abbot's Cellar on various Fridays over the next month. The dinners run $400/couple ($250 for Abbot's), including drink pairings. They're also doing a "Brandy 101" education session with Cask and Local Edition. [EaterWire]

THE EMBARCADEROLa Cocina grad Clairesquares is hoping to make 100 cheesecakes for the needy on Valentine's Day, so founder Claire Keane is donating 100% of sales of her pre-made shortbread pie crusts (available at La Cocina's Ferry Building kiosk or online) for the entire month of February to support the effort.
