Spice Hound Shutters in Bernal; Tacolicious' Lime Crisis

BERNAL HEIGHTS—Seasoning merchant Spice Hound recently opened up shop in the Haight's Second Act Marketplace, and now word comes that they've shuttered their original stall at 331 Cortland for good. As a sign in the window sums it up, they "hope to see you at our new place." [Bernalwood]

SAN FRANCISCO—Problems with Mexican drug cartels and more have driven up lime prices in the U.S/, and Tacolicious is faced with a quandary, asking guests if they should raise the price of their house margarita (made with solely freshly-squeezed Mexican lime juice) from $9.50 to $12.50, or come up with a cheaper solution to ride out the lime crisis. For now, they'll be offering a regular priced margarita using flash-pasteurized fresh lime juice along with freshly squeezed lime and lemon juice, plus a more expensive, all fresh lime juice option. SOMA—A "high-stakes game of craft cocktail making" is underway over at RN74, where Anchor Distilling Company has joined forces with chef Adam Sobel for a cocktail competition to culminate in a three-course meal. Tickets for tonight are $55, and include a chance to judge the finalists' cocktail pairings to determine the winner of RN74's heavyweight title. [EaterWire]

MISSIONBar Tartine is celebrating all things dashi tomorrow night with a special dinner that showcases Mamiko Nishiyama of Yagicho Honten in Tokyo and Sonoko Sakai, founder of Common Grains in LA.
