Third Rail's Happy Hour; Hallowell Cooking at Pizzaiolo

TEMESCAL—In a rare move for a restaurateur with three spots under his belt, Charlie Hallowell is returning to run his old kitchen at Pizzaiolo in May. He's currently cooking at his newest restaurant, Penrose, having lost his chef there early on, and is making the shift to Pizzaiolo so chef de cuisine Julya Shin and sous chef Ben Harris can have a break. OAKLANDHopscotch is hosting a cocktail pairing dinner tomorrow night, featuring five courses each matched with a house concoction (excepting the dessert, "boozy" s'mores). The menu includes porchetta, wings with panko oysters and blue cheese, and fried okra, and is a reasonable $80 for both food and booze. Call for reservations. [EaterWire]

SOMA—Macaron maker Chantal Guillon has snagged a commercial kitchen at 9th and Howard, which may turn into a third location depending on local demand.
