Uptown Oakland Gets Food Trucks; BottleRock Returns

UPTOWN OAKLAND—Uptown Oakland is finally getting some food-truck action—and for a change, ubiquitous Off the Grid isn't involved. Bites in Uptown, from Bites Off Broadway organizer Karen Hester, will run every first Friday during Art Murmur, provided this Friday's launch (with Go Streatery, Fist of Flour, Tante's, Beulah's Bean Truck, and more) is successful. NAPA—Despite all the controversy over its unpaid bills (and the city of Napa's insistence that it won't give permits to the new organizers until the old ones pay up), the BottleRock festival has scheduled its second year of events for Memorial Day weekend. Headliners will be announced mid-month. [Napa Valley Life]

NOE VALLEY—A heads-up to friends and admirers of the late Josh Epple, the Drewes Bros. Meats owner who was sadly killed in a motorcycle accident last month: a fund has been set up to raise funds for his son, Justice, and donations have been coming in through the community. [GiveForward]

ST. HELENA—Congrats to Dry Creek Kitchen chef Dustin Valette, who took home the Prince of Porc crown at Cochon 555 Napa yesterday. Valette and the winner of the SF event (to be held April 27) will compete for the top prize in Aspen later this year. [EaterWire]
