Mission dive bars are increasingly an endangered species, as 24th Street bid goodbye to Pop's over the weekend. The 67-year-old bar has been acquired by Michael "Spike" Krouse, who also owns Madrone Art Bar, and will spend the next three months being renovated; when it returns, approximately half the staff will stay on. When he acquired Pop's, Krause told Mission Mission that "any bar that has lasted 67 years has earned the right to continue and thrive...I can't wait to push it forward with integrity."
