Humphry Slocombe Arrives at the Ferry Building

Status: Opened this morning

Say ciao to Ciao Bella and welcome a more local ice-cream purveyor to the Ferry Building: as of 11 am, Humphry Slocombe's second location is officially open for business, and Zagat got the first look. Jake Godby and Sean Vahey have brought over all the flavor favorites from the 24th and Harrison original, including Secret Breakfast, Blue Bottle Vietnamese Coffee, Chocolate Smoked Sea Salt, and Peanut Butter Curry. They're sticking with the classics for right now, but ice-cream hounds can expect to see new sundaes and a few exclusive flavors as they settle in.

The new Slocombe space comes from Shift Design Studio, and features a fold-out wall with the flavor board, apothecary jars filled with different ingredients, and a separate wall of jars containing the shop's non-scoopable treats, like frosted almonds, bourbon caramel sauce, bacon peanut brittle, and lard caramels. Besides that, it's pretty much a standard takeaway joint, with a separate express line for pints separate from the scoop line—don't expect seating. Hours will be daily from 11 am-7 pm. And if you've got a leftover Virgin America boarding pass, remember that you can trade it in for a scoop of any flavor, including their new exclusive Virgin first-class flavor Butter by Moodlight (brown butter with a blueberry swirl), at either location through June 30.
