Lime Tree Southeast Asian Kitchen
836 Clement St., Inner Richmond
Phone: (415) 831-8811
Status: Open
After eight years as one of the most popular spots on Irving, Lime Tree has expanded to the other side of the park, opening a second location in the former Singapore Malaysian Restaurant at 9th and Clement. The restaurant is known for its affordable takes on Malaysian classics like roti pratha, banana-leaf salmon with chili and lemongrass, laksa noodles, and corn fritters, as well as a wide selection of vegetarian dishes and the roasted chicken legs with chili sauce. And their beef rendang, which made our reader-selected top cheap eats list, remains in full force.
Like the other location, Lime Tree Clement doesn't have a beer and wine license, so you'll have to BYOB or stick to Thai iced tea and soda. Black rice pudding with coconut milk and a fried chocolate banana with ice cream are the dessert options. Unlike the basement location on Irving, this Lime Tree is bigger, brighter, and sans neon-green paint, with a bar facing the window onto Clement, cheerful checkered tablecloths, and pillow-topped banquettes. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 11 am-3 pm and 5-9:30 pm; Saturday, 12-9:30 pm, and Sunday, 12-9 pm.
