In December, the 25 Lusk duo of GM Chad Bourdon and chef Matthew Dolan announced their new expansion play: a more casual restaurant under the dome in the Westfield San Francisco Centre (a.k.a. the mall). They've now updated Inside Scoop with some more details on the concept, which will be called Tap(415). It's intended as a "modern beer garden" with a fast-casual emphasis. Housemade burgers, freshly-baked bread, and of course, plenty of craft brews situate the concept somewhere between the food court and the other dome restaurants—something of an oasis for those who'd rather relax while their friends or partners shop, but desire a step up from the anonymous food-court experience and a step down from a full meal. A lure for bros from different area codes if ever there was one.
25 Lusk's former bar manager, Zack Hirsekorn, will be in charge of the drinks (in addition to the brews, "adult milkshakes" are promised), while the restaurant's designer, Cass Calder Smith, will return to do the space, which will feature a sports-bar area, televisions, and a takeout kiosk. The seating will also have a techie component, with iPhone plugs and USB ports built right into the tables. Opening is currently set for November.
