While food nerds may consider cupcakes to be a trend that's had its day, there's clearly still a constituency that is interested in the petite desserts, because company Great Food Tours has launched a tour that consists entirely of cupcake-shop visits. Unsurprisingly, most of the stops center around the Cupcake Ground Zero of the Marina and Cow Hollow: Kara's, SusieCakes, American Cupcake, and Caffe Dolci, which offers gelato cupcakes. (Cupcake-free bakeries Le Marais and La Boulange and chocolatier CocoaBella are thrown in as breaks in the midst of the cupcake carnage.) Despite its $50 price tag, the tour is apparently quite popular: every Sunday and most Saturdays this month are sold out. "I would not recommend it to anyone who has any issues with metabolizing sugar," a cautious Yelper advises.
