"Finding excellent Chinese food in San Francisco is a challenge," quoth Bauer, but it's one that Hong Kong Lounge II is up to. "They've been building a loyal word-of-mouth following for their food, particularly for dim sum. Yet, as good as the dim sum can be, it pales in comparison to dinner." Favorite dishes include "intense" chicken soup, pea shoots that "top every version [he's] had," and surf clams to which "few dishes compare." Indeed, "just about everything we ordered delivered beyond our expectation. In addition, the service was attentive...[it] will renew your respect for Chinese cooking in San Francisco." Three stars.
