Gashead Tavern, Pub Fare on Mission

Gashead Tavern, the new gastropub from Edward Sargent and Rodger Howell of Murio's Trophy Room, has opened its doors on Mission Street, completing its transformation from the former Charanga. Conceived as a comfortable pub with an offering of British-inspired fare, the new spot boasts a fully-stocked bar and a cozy, brick-lined interior.

Former Greenburgers chef Matt Nudelman is behind the menu, which features hearty bites like truffle cheese sticks with sherry braised shallots, curried pork with roasted pepper apple chutney, bangers and mash, and fish n' chips. Check out the full menu here. They're also planning on offering daily specials, and are considering introducing lunch in the future.

The cocktail menu will feature drinks with a fresh fruit focus, from hurricanes and shandys to a Moscow mule, dark & stormy, paloma and greyhound (all signature cocktails are $10). On tap are local brews from Magnolia, Lagunitas, Anchor Steam and Speakeasy, plus Guinness, Racer 5, Pilsner Urquell, and more. Though they don't have many craft beers on hand at the moment, they'll be stocking up shortly.

The interior features a 14-seat bar and 18 tables, and Sargent tells us that they're also in the process of applying for outdoor seating. For now, the new spot is open 4pm-2am daily, with food available from 4-9pm.
