Though the revamped building at 850 Geary is welcoming wine bar Tender into one of its two new ground-level spaces, it remained a question mark as to who the other occupant might be. Wonder no more, as Inside Scoop brings word that the new spot will be a neighborhood restaurant from Kris Esqueda, who helped launch Saison and Vinyl Wine Bar, as well as being a Sons & Daughters front of house alum. What's more, the very busy Brett Cooper (who also just signed on to both Daniel Patterson's Ume and an upcoming SF restaurant with Patterson), will be the consulting chef.
Cooper (who Esqueda worked with previously at Saison and Coi) and former Bar Agricole sous chef Sara Hauman to put together a menu for the new spot, which is still unnamed. The new spot will be an intimate 25-seat space designed by Bon Vivants Design/Build. So far, menu details are scarce, but it looks to feature mostly small plates (in keeping with the cozy digs) with some shareable larger dishes. Wines will focus on Burgundy, Austria and boutique American providers, and they're shooting for an early August opening date. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
