Rumors are swirling that Tenderloin bar Olive has thrown in the towel after prolonged landlord troubles. Though we haven't gotten final confirmation from owner Jerry Buss, it looks as though the bar might close as soon as this weekend, according to multiple tipsters (Tablehopper has noted the rumors as well).
One tipster told us that the owner lost the lease "because the landlord just wants more money," saying that "they've been negotiating for over a year ... and the landlord still won't budge. He would rather leave the building empty, like the storefront next to Olive." Another tipster says a bartender revealed "they are closing their doors on Saturday."
A perennial neighborhood favorite, Olive is known for their martinis, killer happy hour, and welcoming atmosphere. We'll keep you posted as we learn more about the potential shutter, as well as what might be next for the space.
