Status: Softly open

Back in December, FiDi lunch spot Urban Picnic announced it was opening a second restaurant in the Castro's former Zadin Vietnamese Cuisine. The sequel is now officially in soft-opening mode, culminating with an official opening on July 1st.

Fans of the Kearny location already know it as an eco-friendly, fast-casual lunch spot, but the new Castro location will have extended evening hours, making the Vietnamese-inspired fare a dinner and late-night option as well. On the menu are favorites like the pho, lemongrass chicken banh mi, and kale and quinoa salad, with new additions like a Sriracha-lime chicken sandwich. There are also wine and organic and gluten-free beer options (here's a menu from the original location to get you started). Weekend brunch is also in the offing, complete with breakfast banh mi egg sandwiches, quinoa and chia porridge and more.

The 1,650-square-foot restaurant was renovated by Zero Ten Design to create a fresh and colorful space, with 35 seats. For now, hours are Monday-Wednesday, 10:30am-10pm, Thursday and Friday, 10:30am to 11pm, Saturday 9am-11pm, and Sunday, 9am-10pm.
