Extravagant $300 BRVNCH Debut Falls Through

Despite this weekend's planned debut at Design District event space Venue 550, the "exclusive" $300 brunch concept BRVNCH has just announced that they've cancelled the event.

The planned event made some waves with its members-only concept, pricey tickets ($300 for general admission, $1,500 for VIP) and marketing assertions that "BRVNCH is here to educate the Bay Area on its favorite pastime." A six-course tapas-style meal from chef Ma-Le Au was planned for Sunday's event, along with an open Bloody Mary and mimosa bar and clubby entertainment like go-go dancers and DJs.

But all that will not come to fruition this weekend. "Due to a discrepancy with our venue's liquor license we are forced to cancel our June 29th launch event," says BRVNCH's Eva Valdebenito. "Our inability to provide ticket holders with a worthy event surpassed our need to meet the June 29th deadline. We are looking at other venues for a make up event in either late July or early August."

What does the future hold for BRVNCH's bold daytime dining play? We'll keep you apprised of any new developments. In the meantime, you may want to stick to scrambled eggs and toast—if you're not already drinking your breakfast on this Pride weekend.
