EMBARCADERO—Didn't you know? Today is Peruvian Independence day, and La Mar Cebicheria Peruana is celebrating with a special arroz con pato a la norteña (crispy Peking duck confit over cilantro and black beer rice), served with huancaina sauce and salsa criolla. All that, plus live music and dancing, from 6pm-9pm today. [SF Weekly]

MISSION—Also marking the special occasion will be Pisco Latin Lounge, which will be slinging $5 Pisco sours all night in addition to its summer bar bites menu of plantain chips, mini pork empanaditas, and more. [EaterWire]

THE INTERNETMission Chinese Food's Danny Bowien continues to be a fixture of the New York food scene, this time with a recipe appearing in The Times' Sunday Magazine. Described as an "ode to umami," Bowien's version uses the Caesar salad as a jumping-off point to concoct a Japanese-inspired cabbage salad, complete with beets, seaweed and anchovies. [NYTimes}

BERKELEY—Put this down under last-minute lunch ideas: Standard Fare, the upscale to-go operation from Chez Panisse alum Kelsie Kerr, had added lunch service to their offering, with curbside pick-up of midday eats from Tuesday to Friday, 11am-2:10pm (here's the most recent menu).
