A looming Grim Reaper, a host of rats, chef shuffles, and a perennially underfilled dining room are among the many quasi-Biblical plagues that were visited upon Amber Dhara in the past year, and it appears the restaurant has finally given up the ghost just shy of its second birthday. As Inside Scoop reports, the Mission follow-up to the popular Amber India restaurants in SOMA and Mountain View has called it quits, with owner Vijay Bist admitting that it never quite caught on. But don't expect the enormous 275-seat Valencia space to come on the market anytime soon: Bist still has 19 years left on the lease, and he's hoping to reopen it with a new chef and/or partner.
