"Bean-to-bar" chocolate is hotter than Willy Wonka's molten river, and a new cafe and chocolate shop in Oakland hopes to take advantage of the phenomenon. David Salowich (right), an early employee of Scharffen Berger who runs chocolate tasting for the Good Food Awards, is taking a former Bittersweet Cafe space (5427 College Ave.) for his still-unnamed project, which will offer U.S.-made chocolate bars, light meals, and coffee and chocolate drinks.
