DOH Chronicles

Trouble is brewing at Anula's Cafe, the tiny and popular Caribbean-Indian deli in downtown Oakland. Last week, a health inspector ruled the restaurant could only serve vegetarian dishes, the reasoning for which is unclear. Owner Anula Edirisinche says her space is technically too small to cook in, but the health department had previously let her be, and she can't afford rent at a commercial kitchen. If she can't resolve the issue, Anula's, and its famous jerk chicken, may have to call it quits. [EBX]
