The popping pink party palace you see before you is the Romper Room, which opens tonight in Union Square's former Otis Lounge space. It comes from Joe Garvey, owner of scavenger-hunt creator/corporate teambuilding outlet CLASH, and will do double duty as their headquarters by day and a bar by night. As the name implies, you can expect a boisterous crowd of youngsters playing hard after a long day at the keyboard—Garvey earned the title of "Tech Party King" from the Chron, and he's making good on it.

In keeping with its fun-times atmosphere, Romper Room's cocktail menu is pretty simple, with laid-back drinks like gimlets, mules, and a tequila mai tai. There's a handful of draft and bottled beers, a few wines, and apparently, free high-fives. And they're promising that all the drinks will be made in 90 seconds or less.

The decor, from C Walters Design, is seriously wild, with a full leopard-print mezzanine known as the "Leopard Lounge" (the print covers the couches, carpets, and walls), neon accents, and lots of pink. The seats in the bar flip back, allowing for the vibe to switch from drinks to dance party over the course of an evening. Garvey also has some themed evening events and dress-up parties up his sleeve for later in the year. For now, hours are Monday-Wednesday, 5-10 pm, Thursday-Saturday, 5 pm-2 am, closed Sundays.
