Another week, another very long line for food in the Mission. The stream of waiting folks above came to 16th and Valencia for a first taste of CREAM, the popular build-your-own ice-cream sandwich spot that has locations in Los Altos and Berkeley, and decided to offer its signature treat for free on opening day. As you can see, the line stretched for nearly a block, with its tail landing midway between 15th and 16th on Valencia. (Though the crowd did have plenty of entertainment, thanks to a ribbon-cutting by Supervisor John Avalos and a radio station giving away Outside Lands tickets.) The first ice-cream aspirants were lined up over an hour before the store opened its doors. In the words of a passerby who thought he was witnessing a wait for a secret Kanye West show: "People in SF love to wait."
