After 15 years in the game, Marina sushi go-to Mas Sake has closed its doors. The spot made a name for itself as a fun destination for sake bombs, unconventional sushi rolls, and raucous good times, and it displayed remarkable longevity with a young, party-loving crowd in a neighborhood with a relatively capricious restaurant landscape.
Partner Hugo Gamboa shared the news with Inside Scoop, saying that the owners decided not to renew their lease at 2030 Lombard. For Gamboa, who's got a hand in other local spots like The Brixton, Sabrosa and Redford, it just felt like time to move on and focus on his other projects. No word on who might be taking over the space, which has a full liquor license, but we'll keep you posted when we learn more.
