The Dogpatch has become one of the last resorts for businesses hoping to spread their wings within city limits, and brewery projects like Magnolia and Triple Voodoo have already moved in, with the ambitious Kurt Huffman restaurant/distillery/events space still in the works. Now, thanks to an infusion of VC cash, Philz Coffee plans to headquarter its quickly expanding java empire there, bringing office space, training facilities and, of course, a retail location to the ground floor of Millwheel North, a new condo development on Minnesota Street.
Philz CEO Jacob Jaber told the SF Business Times that the new space will be "massive in size and exquisite in feel," with a look and feel that will respect the authenticity of the neighborhood. Set to debut in early 2015, the new coffee outlet will join Philz' six existing San Francisco locations, and 20 statewide.
