Back in April, we noted plans for a Castro bar and arcade headed to Market Street. Now, more details have emerged on the Blackbird team's newest venture, including the name, opening date and food offering.
Called Brewcade, the upcoming bar/arcade has picked up Monk's Kettle alum Kai Villegas to oversee the bar and also serve as GM. Villegas will bring a craft beer focus to the new spot, with 25 beers on tap featuring selections like Anderson Valley Brewing, Allagash, Dogfish Head and more. In addition to the ample beer lineup, Brewcade will offer five wines and a "soda pop bar" that will appeal to teetotalers with a variety of artisan sodas.
Though we still don't know exactly what to expect from the over 20 classic arcade games on the way, Brewcade is set to take high school nostalgia to the next level with a "munchie bar" that will offer snacks like caramel corn, beer jerky, mixed nuts and chicharrones from 4505 Meats.
But for those craving a more complete meal, the bar will allow food to be brought over from Bandidos, the upcoming Mexican restaurant from the Hi-Tops owners which will neighbor Brewcade on the ground floor of the 2200 Market Street building.
Brewcade isn't the only project aiming to combine classic arcade fun with booze, but with a November opening date, it will be the first to debut. Early next year, it will be joined by bar/arcade concept Buzzworks, which is planned to hit the 11th Street corridor in early 2015.
