Massimo Bottura Coming to Tosca; Ferry Plaza Seafood's New Happy Hour

An African-meets-vegan dinner, a Central Coast food fest, and more events.

NORTH BEACH—Famed Italian chef Massimo Bottura (Osteria Francescana) has booked an appearance at Tosca Cafe on Thursday, October 9, in honor of his new cookbook Never Trust a Skinny Italian ChefThe $55 ticket will include wine, cocktails, and canapes, and Omnivore Books will be on-site selling copies, which Bottura will sign. NORTH BEACH—Ferry Plaza Seafood has launched a new happy hour, featuring $1 oysters (more or less: $7 for 6 and $12 for 12), $5 wines, $4 beer, and $4-10 bar bites like chowder, grilled artichokes, and sashimi. It runs Monday-Friday, 3:30-6 pm, with last call at 5:30 pm. [EaterWire]

MARINAAfro-Vegan author Bryant Terry is dropping into Greens on Friday night, offering a menu based on the book. Dishes will include Jamaican patties stuffed with corn maque choux, berbere-spiced black-eyed pea sliders, and more.
