Birba Gets the Go-Ahead; Mamacitas Cafe Kickstarts

HAYES VALLEY—Forthcoming Hayes Valley wine bar Birba has been delayed for months due to noise concerns over its proposed patio. But owner Angie Valgiusti has finally gotten the go-ahead from the neighborhood, provided she scraps the outdoor area for the time being. She's hoping to reopen this winter; the patio will be re-evaluated in six months. [Hoodline]

OAKLAND—Mamacitas Cafe, an organization that supports at-risk girls through a mobile vendor selling coffee and donuts, is Kickstarting to expand their organization. Rewards include free donuts, coffee, and a catered party. [SFoodie]

BAYVIEW—Guest chef David Lawrence (1300 on Fillmore) is joining the Bayview Underground Food Scene this weekend for a special dinner at Radio Africa & Kitchen, benefiting the Community Youth Center. $75 buys a three-course meal with live music; wine pairings (including neighborhood winery Gratta Wines) are an additional $25.
