Wise Sons Is Finally Opening For Dinner Service

Table service and draft beer are among the new features at the popular Mission deli.

A meal at Wise Sons Deli's Mission flagship can be an elusive beast: until recently, they were closed both Mondays and Tuesdays (they're now open on the latter), and only open for breakfast and lunch on the remaining days, building up lines of fans who drive from around the Bay Area for their Jewish-deli fix. But after two and a half years, Wise Sons is finally moving into the evening hours. Beginning this week, they'll be serving dinner Thursday-Saturday, from 5:30-10 pm.

The menu will be a mixture of breakfast and lunch favorites (smoked fish bialys, pastrami sandwiches, matzo ball soup) and some new blue-plate specials, like chicken schnitzel, beer-braised brisket, and latkes. Evan Bloom and Leo Beckerman have teamed up with the Presidio's newish Fort Point Brewing to add a few drafts, and counter service will be ditched to allow for more of a sit-down atmosphere. As of yet, the new service won't be extended to their Contemporary Jewish Museum location, which remains daytime-only (but is open Mondays). However, if demand for dinner is, Bloom says he's open to expanding to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday in the Mission.

Here's the current dinner menu (subject to change):
