LOWER HAIGHTBlack Sands, the forthcoming microbrewery and restaurant in the Lower Haight, is still a few months out, but they've decided to open up one part of their business already: a homebrew shop. It's only open on weekends for now, but given that it's the second shop in the city and the only one not out in the avenues, we're guessing it'll do pretty well. [Hoodline]

MISSIONLa Cocina is holding an auction for a pretty amazing prize: dinner for 4 cooked by Traci des Jardins at Jardiniere on September 22nd, with Mythbusters host Adam Savage as your meal companion. Bidding is currently at $1600, and all proceeds will benefit La Cocina, which helps immigrant women start their own food businesses. [EaterWire]

NORTH BEACH—It turns out SF hat-makers Goorin Bros. have a 100-year-old former speakeasy in the bowels of their North Beach shop. Thrillist is giving away 50 tickets to a party there, and if you're feeling rich, you can also rent the whole space out for a private event. [Thrillist SF]

RUSSIAN HILL—Tomorrow night is 1760's first anniversary, and to celebrate, they're hosting Massican, Larkmead Vineyards, Failla Wines, Storybook Mountain Vineyards, Neyers Vineyards, El Molino, and Corison Winery to pour their wines by the glass. All proceeds will benefit victims of the Napa earthquake. [EaterWire]
