After a mere four months in business, Top Chef alum Ryan Scott has decided to shutter his newish Potrero Hill gastropub, Mason. According to Inside Scoop, Scott was "made an offer that he couldn't refuse," and will focus his energy on his adjoining lunch concept, Market & Rye. The closure is actually Scott's second in the past six months: he also shut down Market & Rye's sister restaurant in West Portal back in June, citing his increased schedule of celebrity-chef appearances as the cause for downsizing.
The attractive offer came from Ivo Nesralla, according to an application to transfer Mason's liquor license. Nesralla owns Tavares, a restaurant and market in São Paulo that specializes in Brazilian food and tapas. However, the Mason shakeup also suggests that the space at 300 De Haro might be cursed: this is the third shutter there in three years, following Mojo Kitchen and Pizza Nostra.
