Red's Java House, Saturday, 1 p.m.

A photo tour of the Embarcadero icon.

For each day of Classics Week, Eater SF's head photographer, Patricia Chang, visited a different iconic San Francisco restaurant or bar for an Eater Scenes photo essay. Today, step into the fray at the Anthony Bourdain-approved Red's Java House, which has been dishing up cheeseburgers on sourdough bread since 1955, in a building that dates to the 1930s. (It's the kind of place that's so old-school that they didn't even add french fries to their menu until 2001.) With this weekend's beautiful weather, it's no surprise that the line for beers and burgers was out the door.
