Masaye Waugh and Jerrid Wood met while working at Tonic and now the two have come together to open their first restaurant/bar venture, a new spot called Ho's Bootleg Tavern that will open in Russian Hill in early November in the former Gungho Tavern space on Van Ness.
Inside Scoop reports that chef Tim Luym (The Attic, Poleng Lounge) will be in charge of the menu featuring "affordable American comfort food and bar bites with an Asian twist." The kitchen will stay open late, in the hopes of luring Polk Street bar hoppers with the "booze-friendly eats" and there are plans for a late night ramen take-out window.
Waugh told Inside Scoop she would also like to add outdoor seating and a garden and that there will be an Indiegogo fundraising campaign starting Monday, October 26 to try to fund some of the future projects. Follow the Ho's Bootleg Tavern Facebook page for more information.
Permits allowing, Ho's Bootleg Tavern will open the first week of November. Hours will be 5 p.m. to midnight, Sunday through Wednesday, and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Thursday through Saturday. Stay tuned for more details.
Update, Wednesday, October 21, 12:36 p.m.: This article has been updated; Masaye Waugh and Jerrid Wood met while working at Tonic, not Eos.
