The New York Times’ popular “36 Hours In” travel feature has set its sights on San Francisco. And the itinerary basically tells you to eat all day every day, with some limited time for Mission murals, Green Apple Books on the Park and the de Young thrown in. Here’s the perfect SF weekend eating schedule, according to the Grey Lady.
Friday
Grab a cheeseburger and beer at Red’s Java House, then stroll over to the Ferry Building to snack and browse. Dinner’s at Hard Water for fried chicken and whiskey, and if you want to be really hardcore, you’ll have a second paella dinner at Coqueta. Don’t be lame — two dinners and drinks is not enough for those “city that never sleeps” folk. Get a nightcap and catch some live music at Royal Cuckoo, and then (yes, and then) head to Zeitgeist for some “punk-spirited” beers.
Saturday
Only shill out a few bucks for some Mexican morning pastries at La Mejor Bakery or Panaderia La Mexicana in the Mission and eat those while walking to the Alemany Farmers’ Market to pick up some lunch. Mosy your way over to Dolores Park and eat your fare. For dinner, it’s Ichi Sushi & Ni Bar for omakase, or Heirloom Cafe’s three-course menu and wine pairing. Bowling at Mission Bowling Club is this evening’s activity, where you can get “really good food” if you’re still hungry.
Sunday
Brunch at Nopalito (if you can get in). If not, get the pizza from Arizmendi Bakery. The end.
