Opening tonight to the Palo Alto public, Bird Dog from chef Robbie Wilson (Mattei’s Tavern) is basically a place for Wilson to cook what he likes to eat. The menu leans Californian with lots of Japanese touches and is divided into three categories: raw, meat and vegetables. "Dining at Bird Dog is like our perfect meal," Wilson said. "It’s a lot of crudo and small, intensely-flavored meats, and then you get into what makes California shine, which is vegetables and creative presentations." All plates are smaller portions meant to give diners the chance to try more of the menu. Check out the menu below, which is limited to start.
Bird Dog is closed on Sundays until November 29, but after that will be open from Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The bar area opens at 4:30 p.m.
