The City of Napa's Planning Commission will vote on the plans Thursday night.

Moana Restaurant Group, the company behind popular Yountville restaurants REDD and Redd Wood, is proposing to open a new restaurant, brewery and bar in the city-owned historic Borreo Building on Third Street in Napa. While the Moana Restaurant Group has been tight-lipped about specific details and an opening timeline, word on the street suggests a Mexican concept for the space — despite his two Italian restaurants, Redd chef Richard Reddington has been quietly looking for a new space in recent years and has thrown blow-out Cinco de Mayo parties for the past few years, with authentic, regional Mexican cuisine (think ceviches, moles, chicharrones, Mexican pie and tacos) on the very extensive menus.

In order for plans to move forward, the city of Napa’s Planning Commission has to vote on the new project’s redevelopment and permissible uses of the property at this Thursday’s meeting. A look at the floor plan proposal submitted by partnering development group West Pueblo Partners shows a large 21-seat, horseshoe-shaped bar in the center of the first floor of the space with dining room seating and booths to the left of the bar. An outdoor dining area spans the length of the building, with views of the Napa River and city of Napa. The upstairs floor plan shows a private event space with a glass railing looking down to the bar below.
