It's been just under two months since Gabriela Cámara's well-received Mexican seafood restaurant Cala debuted. Part of Cámara's plan from the beginning was to open a back-alley taco lunch spot, and that time has come. Starting tomorrow, November 10 at 11 a.m., Tacos Cala will officially open for business with a menu of only tacos de guisado (homemade tacos, with tortillas formed from corn that is nixtamilized in-house). There will be meat, vegetarian and vegan options that will switch up on a nearly daily basis. Aguas frescas and iced horchata coffee will also be on offer to take away, and bottled beer and wine by the glass will be available for those who opt to eat around the tall, standing-only table. After tomorrow, Tacos Cala, which has an entrance on Hickory Street between Van Ness and Franklin, will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
