Teléferic Barcelona, the renowned tapas restaurant from Barcelona, is finally poised to open its doors to the pintxo-loving public. The 160-seat restaurant is located smack in the middle of Walnut Creek's toniest shopping district, offering tapas served tableside (kind of like dim sum). The opening date is currently slated for mid-December.

In the meantime, the Spaniards have landed and they're ready to party. Teléferic chefs Oscar Cabezas, Rodrigo Vazquez (both from Spain) and Patricio Dufoo (former executive sous chef at Coqueta) are planning a Spanish Sunday Supper event with Calavera chef Christian Irabien. Taking place at Calavera, the event is something of a menu preview while Teléferic Barcelona receives its finishing touches, offering a selection of Spanish pintxos, tapas and cocktails. Diners can preview dishes like woodgrilled Spanish octopus with truffled Parmentier crema and a hamburger involving Jamón Ibérico, Idiazabal cheese and crispy ham; cocktails will include fresh takes on sangria, and gin and tonics from Michael Iglesias and the team behind Dos Ojos, who will be consulting on the menu. Oh, and there will be porrons (aka the Catalan party pitcher that is poured directly into the drinker's mouth). Be ready for porrons.

The pop-up will take place Sunday, December 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Calavera. Reservations are recommended.
