Saratoga's Sent Sovi Changing Directions to Relish GastroLounge

Same owners, different food.

Ed H./Yelp

Sent Sovi has had a storied San Francisco history, originally opened by now-Michelined chef David Kinch, of Manresa fame. Kinch put the restaurant on the map, before leaving and passing on the reins to chef/owner Josiah Slone. Slone managed the French restaurant for 12 years before shuttering in September. Now, Slone’s bringing it back, but with an entirely new concept. Called Relish GastroLounge, the restaurant will have a more casual feel with a focus on craft beer. Slone will move into a management role, with former Sent Sovi chef Timothy Uttaro helming the stoves. Uttaro has a heavy French and Italian cooking background having worked at 231 Ellsworth and the Epicurean Group.

Where Sent Sovi’s food focused more on classic French Californian fare, Relish will stay in that realm but update the food for a more 2016 focus, with dishes like ostrich carpaccio and porchetta sliders. Relish’s opening is just around the corner, with a projected early- to mid-January start. Stay tuned for more details.
