LOWER HAIGHT— In a fast-paced city where nothing is for certain, San Franciscans have at least one place where they can huddle together for comfort and reliability. Peter Malone, the mastermind behind the trivia at Mad Dog in the Fog, is celebrating 20 years in his role as quizmaster. The free Quiz Nights are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 p.m., so stop by to celebrate with a round of trivia. [Hoodline]

OAKLAND— Whether or not Valentine's Day is on your radar, Umami Mart and The Trappist's Japan Beer Fest is a great way way to spend Black Saturday. They'll be pouring over 15 imports from Japan, accompanied by fried chicken and wasabi slaw from Abura-Ya and sweet beats from DJ All Day (played on a tape deck). Stop by The Trappist from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. on February 14. [EaterWire]

EMBARCADERO— Chinese New Year is about to pop off in the city of San Francisco, beginning with gigantic, expensive Crystal Jade Jiang Nan. The special Lunar New Year menus will be available from February 12-26. Choose from options like the Prosperity Happiness set menu, which costs $198 per person (with a minimum of ten participants) and includes dishes like "prosperity abalone" and braised bird's nest and crab meat chowder. Diners can also order from an a la carte menu. [EaterWire]
