With its panoply of small weekly gatherings across the Bay Area, Off the Grid is the 800-pound gorilla of the local food-truck scene. But its signature events, the massive Friday-night bash at Fort Mason and the popular Sunday-afternoon Picnic at the Presidio, are seasonal affairs. Happily for fans, both are coming back to greet the warmer spring weather: Presidio is back in action this Sunday, March 1, and Fort Mason will make its debut for the 2015 season next Friday, March 6.
Fans of the two events can expect a largely unchanged atmosphere: Presidio will still boast mimosa and bloody Mary kits, blanket/chair/game rentals, and a DJ, while Fort Mason will offer Magnolia beers, cocktails from recent James Beard longlisters Rye on the Road, live music, and an artist-in-residency program featuring rotating works. They'll both run through the end of October.
