Santa Cruz-based Verve Coffee Roasters is one of the nation's most acclaimed, earning recognition from the Good Food Awards, StarChefs Rising Star status, and a place on the Eater National Coffee 38. But until now, they haven't had a presence of their own in San Francisco—and that's about to change. Hoodline reports that Verve has snagged the prime Veo Optics space right at the well-trafficked corner of Church and Market, just above the Church Muni station. Fuse Architecture will be behind the cafe, further details of which Verve is staying mum on for the moment.
This isn't Verve's first venture outside of Santa Cruz: they opened a stunning Downtown L.A. espresso bar just last week, featuring fancy automated pourover brewers. They also have a juice bar within the shop from L.A.'s Juice Served Here, which could portend a possible collaboration with one of SF's many cold-pressed titans. The space is the realization of a two-plus-year search for an SF home, so it's safe to assume they're pretty pumped right now. We'll have more details on the Verve shop and a possible opening date as they come to light.
