Adorable Hayes Valley eatery Bar Jules will shut its doors at the end of the week, according to Inside Scoop.
Chef-owner Jessica Boncutter has decided to sell the restaurant after eight years in business, despite the fact that Bar Jules remains very popular. Boncutter, who is eight months pregnant, says that the sale and closure is a personal decision, not a financial one. "It's been eight years. I just wanted to pass it on to someone who will take care of it and respects the space," she said.
There's no word yet on the identity of the mystery buyer, or what will become of the tiny spot in Hayes Valley, though it sounds like that news will be announced very soon. Boncutter's plans for the future are also TBD, though she told Inside Scoop that "I have a really positive feeling about the whole thing. It felt right."
Bar Jules will close for good after brunch on Sunday, April 5, so those looking to say goodbye to the chocolate nemesis cake should make a date to stop in this week.
