Metallica drummer and longtime Bay Area local Lars Ulrich is getting hitched this month (to his third wife, model Jessica Miller), and he decided to celebrate the end of his bachelor days in style by inviting a cavalcade of celebrities to join him for a San Francisco throwdown on Saturday night. According to People, the group, including Bradley Cooper, Ulrich's Metallica bandmate James Hetfield, and most perplexingly, Ian McKellen, rented Lucky Strike's private Green Room, where they ate sushi and spinach dip and showed off their bowling skills. (Cooper, no stranger to bachelor parties after starring in three The Hangover films, apparently won.) RumorFix adds that the party was thrown by Beavis & Butthead and Silicon Valley creator Mike Judge, and that Ulrich signed a bowling pin for the staff before he left.
Lucky Strike has become a bit of a draw for celebrities of late, with Tara Reid having taken her top off there a few months ago. The party apparently headed out to dinner at a nearby restaurant after their bowl-off,
but there's no word on where, exactly, they went. If you know, the tipline welcomes you!)
Update, 2:15 pm: A tipster says the party hit the Starlight Room after their still-mysterious meal, where they closed down the bar drinking vodka sodas and Stellas.
Update, 3:15 pm: Turns out the group's dinner destination was none other than Mourad Lahlou's splashy new Mourad. "They did a tasting menu that we cooked especially for them," says Lahlou, who adds that Peter Coyote, Michael Fassbender, and tennis star Brad Gilbert were also among Ulrich's crew. "They were super badass, and people loved them." Lars Ulrich, please tell us your secrets for winning friends and influencing people, because you have the most random-but-amazing group of pals we've ever seen.
