San Francisco is about to get a ritzy sugar rush, with the opening of two locations of upscale candy boutique Sugarfina. Billed by its founders as the "first-ever candy store for adults," the high-end candy emporiums are set to open May 2015 in Union Square and Cow Hollow.

Co-founders (and engaged couple), Rosie O'Neill and Josh Resnick originally launched their luxury candy boutique online in 2012, followed by their first retail store in Beverly Hills the following year. The product of the former director of marketing for Barbie and a video game entrepreneur, Sugarfina is designed to transport guests to "candy heaven," with a carefully chosen selection of beautiful and hard-to-find candies (over two-thirds can't be found anywhere else in the country). Now they're bringing their gourmet candies to San Francisco, including their top-selling boozy candies (like Champagne gummy bears and Cuba libre gummies). The duo plans to include the products of local Bay Area confectioners in their signature "Bento Box" candy samplers, including options like matcha green tea caramels and dark chocolate coffee toffee. The glitzy stores will also offer the services of a "candy concierge," who will be available to help guests find gifts, host private events and tastings and even (somehow) propose marriage.

The first shop will open May 1 at the 271 Sutter location in Union Square and will be open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday- Thursday, 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; the Cow Hollow location will open May 15 at 1837 Union Street, open 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
