Just in time to feed the Friday happy hour crowd, one of our most anticipated restaurants of Spring, Montesacro Pinseria Romana and Enoteca, opens today at 510 Stevenson Street, just off Sixth and Market Streets. Named, appropriately enough, for a rough-and-tumble neighborhood where owner and 54 Mint partner Gianluca Legrottaglie used to work in Rome, the casual Italian wine bar will be firing light, Roman-style pinsa in a brick oven unearthed during renovations.
Non-pinsa/pizza menu items will stick to the Roman vibe with house-marinated veggies, salumi, cheeses and salads, while thirsty after-work drinkers will find a "sizable" beer and wine selection.
For now, dinner service begins daily, Monday - Saturday 5 to 10 p.m. with lunch service starting Monday, 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. The bar is closed Sundays but will eventually remain open from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, Monday - Saturday. Although the official site is still under construction, you can call ahead at: 415-795-3040
