Pizzeria-On-Wheels Del Popolo Rolling Out Nob Hill Brick-and-Mortar

It'll have an expanded menu (and the truck will continue to run as well).

If you've ever seen the Del Popolo truck at a food-truck gathering, it's unlikely that you've forgotten it; Jon Darsky's wood-fired pizzeria on wheels is an engineering marvel, and easily the most stunning truck in San Francisco. But after three years of roaming the streets, Darsky is ready to put it in park. Inside Scoop reports that the former Flour + Water pizzaiolo has secured a space in Nob Hill for his first brick-and-mortar.

Housed in the former Actors Theatre space, which has been vacant since mid-2013, Del Popolo will of course feature pizza, but salad, arancini, and antipasti will also be on the menu. The space looks to require a full buildout, and Darsky didn't give an opening timeline beyond "later this year," but it's definitely exciting news for Nob Hill and its environs, which are definitely short on step-up pizza places. But fans of Del Popolo's mobile operation needn't fear: the pizzeria is just a new addition to the business, and Darsky will continue to run his truck as usual.
