A Mission thief with a raging hunger for breakfast apparently couldn't contain himself, and ended up punching a 53-year-old woman in the face over a muffin. According to the Examiner, the incident went down at a store in the 200 block of Valencia on Tuesday morning around 8 am, when a man believed to be in his 40s entered the store, swiped the muffin from a shelf, and tried to leave without paying.
The woman, an employee at the store, confronted the muffin thief, attempting to grab the stolen pastry out of his hands. Instead, he punched her in the face, then fled. Cops who arrived at the scene were unable to track him down. Thankfully, the woman sustained only minor injuries to her face, and turned down medical treatment, but the muffin marauder remains at large.
Police reports don't specify where the attack took place, but it almost certainly occurred at corner store Fred's Liquor, which is the only food shop on the block. Considering the recent cruffin recipe theft at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, San Francisco seems to have become a hotbed of pastry-related crime.
